Onancock Regatta Weekend
Beautiful, historic, waterfront
Onancock Wharf

A celebration
of our Chesapeake Bay heritage

A fun time at Onancock Wharf
It is a wonderful time where family, friends, neighbors and strangers comes together for a weekend
designed for the young at heart regardless of our ages.  It is unique because it is a celebration of our Chesapeake Bay heritage and it is, for all of us, educational.

The Onancock Regatta Weekend Committee wishes to thank all of the exhibitors and vendors who participated in this great weekend. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation(Captain Jackie McCready) shown left, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Wildlife Refuge (Jim Kenyon and staff) shown right, the Virginia Marine Science Museum, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, the United States Coast Guard, and all others too numerous to mention. Local vendor, Tom Thumb Workshops joined vendors throughout the Chesapeake Bay for a day of enjoyment for all.
There were activities for all ages; shopping for the adults, games and activities for children. It is the merchants and civic minded citizens throughout Onancock and the Eastern Shore that made this weekend possible.

Eastern Shore Tractor and Pepsi were among the many contributors.

It is a smile and a wave, it is a child's laugh, it is boating and kayaking.  It is where next year this time is already being talked about......

We are proud to have had the Fishing Bay Yacht Club, Mathews Yacht and Country Club, and Annapolis Landing Marina members as guests who participated in this year's regatta weekend: not to forget visitors (land-lovers) from afar; yes, Germany, England, Australia, and of course, our own Onancock and Eastern Shore of Virginia residents.

What a wonderful time for all!  Paper Boat Racing has been a popular event for many years in Onancock duirng special festivities.  This year was no exception.  A special thanks to the local Virginia National Guard Onancock Unit who participated in this year's Great Paper Boat Race.

The Onancock Regatta Weekend Coordinators
Without their leadeship and guidance, the Onancock Business and Civic Association could not have successfully accomplished their goal for the regatta weekend: the celebration of our Chesapeake Bay heritage; it is an opportunity for the youth of the area to become more knowledgeable of their environment and have fun in the process; it is a diversified weekend of fun and frolic for all ages - boaters and land-lovers, alike; it is contributing funds to education, the arts, and other areas in order to facilitate a better tomorrow for the citizenry of the Eastern Shore today.  The OBCA is proud of its accomplishments since its inception and we are equally proud of the dedication of members like the Randalls and Alicia Johnson for their contributions to their community.
