hello, my name is geraldine and i was on your website just looking
at the island. looks and sounds like a very beautiful place to be. i was
interested in it because my husband is over on your island working with

it looked like. i had heard so many people say that it was a beautiful
place and it was very quiete over there. then they told me about how you
had to get around on golf carts or bicycles and that really amazed me.
i was just interested to see for myself. sur would like to visit this place
one day soon, it loks so peaceful on this island. so if anyone sees my
husband, his name is jerry sellers and he is staying at bay view inn ,
please say hello to him and tell him his wife loves him and misses him
very much. today is october 27-2000. dont know how long they will be dredging

WE RECENTLY ENJOYED A SPLENDID STAY ALONG THE UPPER AND LOWER BAY AREA,
I THINK IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE THAT I HAVE TRAVELED TO. I LIKE
THE FACT THAT THIS PRECIOUS AREA IS BEING CONSERVED WHILE STILL ALLOWING
TOURISM. I HAD JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY, AND THE RECUPERATION I EXPERIENCED
WAS TRULEY WONDERFUL. THE LOCAL RESIDENTS WANTED ME TO FEEL AS IF THIS
WAS MY HOME. (I WISH IT WAS). WE SAW SO MANY ACTS OF KINDNESS DISPLAYED.
YHANK YOU! p.S. MY CHILDREN DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE EITHER!

My husband's family grew up there and most still reside there. We are
very fortunate in getting the "native's" tour when we go back. We recently
went to Tangiers Island. It was like going back in time to a guieter, gentler
era. The people are friendly and tolerant of tourists. In my opinion, the
best crabcakes (Tangiers is famous for them) are just as you get off the
boat at the stand in front of you. Hello to all the "Mapps and Harmons"

We want to take our family on a cruise to Tangier Island. We belong

for a family of 9? We are interested in planning a trip for a long weekend.
RCI will get you a place for a 4 day trip at a cost of $109.00 for members.
I know there are lots of bed & breakfast sites close by, but I don't
know if RCI honors those or not. Let me know more. Thanks My husband and
I have made two trips there from the Va. side and now we want our children

visited Tangier Island on our Store trip. Our store that we work for
gives us a free 3 day trip to the place of there choosing every year. Our
first trip that we went on when we started with the Store was to Tangier
Island. We went up the Chesapeake Bay from PA to Maryland and stopped at
various places; Museum's, Eateries, Wild Horses, Etc. That was a trip that
I will never forget!!! The best part of it was the part of the trip to
Tangier Island. We watched the sun go down on the bay and it was beautiful!!!
I would encourage anyone to visit Tangier Island. It's a beautiful place.
Being an "Island Girl", originally from Long Island, New York, I soaked
in every minute of it!!! I could go on and on, but I know that whoever
decides to go there will NOT come back dissapointed!!! Angela Evelyn Hahn

We have had lots of inquiries regarding the Onancock Regatta Weekend
which will be held here in Onancock, Virginia. A quick update as follows:
Dates: September 15-17, 2000. Yes, there will be the Friday night Bell
Atlantic Charitable Dinner/Dance at the ESYCC: transportation will be furnished
to and from Onancock Wharf for boaters from around the Chesapeake Bay who
are attending. Over one-half of the tickets have already been purchased.
To purchase tickets contact Maphis via email: maphis@ColonialManorInn.com
Also, on Saturday there will be an array of activities at the Wharf and
on Onancock Creek; and yes, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation will be a participant,
again this year, as well as the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS),
AEGIS, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Wildlife Refuge and more. It is truly
a celebration of our Chesapeake Bay heritage. There will be exhibitors
and vendors at the Wharf Saturday, lots of water sports; the Great Paper
Boat Race, the Onancock Kayak Challenge, the Dinghy Race, and the Duck
Race. Sunday closes with the Blessing of the Fleet. It is a
fun time for boaters and land-lovers alike, from children to Seniors.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are
in hopes to have Onancock Creek full with weekend visitors so plan on coming
to Onancock for the Onancock Regatta Weekend.
